Rena Lipkind August 30, 2024

Date of Funeral

September 6, 2024

Rena Lipkind of Houston TX, formerly of Boston MA, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family after a long illness on August 30, 2024, at the age of 81.
Devoted daughter of the late Paul and Mollie (Ernest) Sadgursky. Beloved wife of Carl I Lipkind. Loving mother of Robert Jay Lipkind and his wife Ashlee, Dr. Mark Alan Lipkind and his wife Sandra, and cherished grandmother of Jack, and Max Lipkind. Dear sister of Muriel (Sadagursky) Sokolow and her late husband Stanley Sokolow. She leaves behind her nephew David Sokolow and is preceded in death by her niece Ruth Ann Sokolow in blessed memory.

Rena grew up in Dorchester and went to Solomon Lewenberg Junior High School. She graduated and went to Jeremiah E Burke High school. She was very gifted in the arts with drawing, painting, and singing. She had some Scholastic Art Awards and was mentioned in the Boston Globe a few times. She eventually went to the Boston College of Fine Arts at the Boston Museum of Art to learn how to draw and paint. Her true passion was singing, and she had been singing since she was 13.

She performed in numerous plays throughout Junior High and High School. She eventually started singing professionally and toured numerous nightclubs along the Northeast, even traveling to Goose Bay Labrador in Canada. In 1963 she married Carl Lipkind and continued to tour. She sang and toured while pregnant with both of her sons and even after they were born.

In the early 80’s she got very interested in remodeling and design. She started a very successful career in the kitchen and bath remodeling business and became a certified Master Kitchen and Bath Designer from the National Kitchen and Bath Association. She had a career that spanned over 30 years in that field and at the time when she earned her Master, she was part of only a handful of people that had that certification in the country.

Her hobbies included:  traveling, music, and reading. She was a prolific reader even as a child and that remained part of her life even after she retired. She loved movies and music including Opera and other genres.

Her funeral service will be held at 11AM, Friday, September 6, 2024, at Schlossberg Family’s Chapel on the Hill, 824 Washington Street in Canton, with the interment to follow at Sharon Memorial Park.

As an alternative to a shiva we will be going to Alice’s Mandarin Taste Restaurant to eat and all are welcome to attend.
