Marcia (Woolf) Hicks August 28, 2024

Date of Funeral

September 2, 2024

Marcia (Woolf) Hicks passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at the age of 81. Born to the late Lillian (Wexler) and Hayvis Woolf, Marcia was a loving wife to the late Robert (Bob) Hicks and a dear sister to the late Meryl Woolf. Marcia and Bob shared 44 wonderful years of marriage in North Easton, MA, where they created countless memories, including many cherished trips to Europe.

Marcia’s heart remained firmly anchored in her beloved Rhode Island, where she previously engaged in local politics and cultivated friendships with many legislators, including the distinguished Senator Pell, who was a guest at their wedding. Summers were a time of joyful gatherings for the Woolf and Wexler families at Rhode Island beaches, savoring lobster rolls and Aunt Carrie’s clam cakes while catching up on family news.

Marcia’s professional journey began at NE Telephone, which later became AT&T. She transitioned to a role as a customer service trainer for Philip Morris in New York City, traveling extensively across the country before returning to AT&T in Providence. Her career culminated in managing employee training at the call center for the Brigham and Women’s Hospital network.

A devoted member of Temple Chayai Shalom in Easton, Marcia’s contributions were profound. She served with unwavering dedication as Co-President for two terms over the years, held numerous roles on the Temple Board and was Vice President and Financial Secretary. She was a founding member of the Sisterhood group and led many vital committees over the years. Her instrumental role in revitalizing the Temple sanctuary is a testament to her enduring commitment. Marcia developed deep relationships within the TCS community, and she shared many wonderful holiday celebrations with members of the congregation.

A chapel service to honor Marcia will be held at 10AM, Monday, September 2nd 2024 at Schlossberg Family’s Chapel on the Hill in Canton, with the interment to follow at Sharon Memorial Park.

Although we didn’t see her often, she always attended family events. I did see her a few years ago for a cousin’s lunch. I knew she was struggling with her health then, but looked great. Marcia was the keeper of the family history and always tried to keep people abreast of the family news. She was very kind and caring. I know she was very involved in her temple and will surely be missed by the members, her family and friends. I learned after I married that her dad Hayvis and my husband’s dad Allen were cousins. So Woolfs on both sides. What a small world. May her memories be a blessing.
