Carol B. Merrill, formerly of Norton, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2024.
Born and raised in Hyde Park, Massachusetts, Carol was a dedicated wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister-in-law and friend.
Devoted daughter of the late Harry and Anne (Katz) Horvitz and beloved wife of the late George W. Merrill of Norton MA. Loving mother of Jennifer Geroldi and her husband Tony of Union NJ and Darren and Yvonne Merrill of North Andover MA. Cherished grandmother of Antonio and wife Merna of Linden NJ, Daniela, Gianna and Dominick Geroldi and great-grandson Kade of Union NJ and Trevor Merrill of North Andover MA.
She is the dear sister of Barbara and the late Phil Cooper and the late Martin Horvitz.
She leaves behind many dearly loved nieces and nephews and close friends.
Carol attended Hyde Park High School, earned an Associate Degree at Quincy College and was an accomplished office professional for well known companies in the Boston area.
Carol and George Merrill shared 40 years of marriage which was highlighted by their unwavering companionship, neither of them left each other’s side; especially Carol. She was selfless in her daily life and her commitment to George ensuring that each day together was memorable. Together they were an awesome team, a modern-day Bonnie and Clyde.
Carol enjoyed life, enjoyed people and enjoyed socializing. She took great pleasure in cooking, photography, vintage cars, trips to the local casino and the decades spent as a snowbird in Boca Raton and Delray Beach Florida.
Simple things in life meant a lot to Carol. However, she held dear her prized Barbie collection. The impressive assortment was extraordinary and Carol took great pride in her efforts over the years.
Family was important to Carol. She was incomparable in her commitment to her family. Carol treasured each and every family member and gained joy from their relationships. She enjoyed the time spent during the holidays or over the phone or getting laughs from a simple kibbutz.
Special Thanks to the outstanding and compassionate caregivers at Hellenic Nursing Center of Canton (Ima, Florence and Tania) and Gentiva Hospice (Sibeli and Libby).
Carol’s funeral service will be held at 11AM, Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at Schlossberg Family’s Chapel on the Hill, 824 Washington Street in Canton, with the interment to follow at Sharon Memorial Park.
