Paul M. Greenfield January 5, 2024

Date of Funeral

January 9, 2024

Paul M. Greenfield of Stoughton, formerly of Dorchester and Sharon, after a long battle with cancer, entered into rest on January 05, 2024 at the age of 78.

Devoted son of the late David and Lillian (Miller) Greenfield. Beloved husband of Barbara (Winkler) Greenfield and the late Dianne (Hazen) Greenfield. Loving father of Lisa Greenfield-Lee and her husband Roy of Mansfield and the late Adam Greenfield. Cherished grandfather of Samuel Lee, Danielle Lee and stepchildren Rachel Rotman and her wife Ashley and Benjamin Rotman. Dear brother of the late Ricky Greenfield. Paul also leaves behind many caring cousins and dear friends, near and far.

Paul was a big man with an even bigger heart.  He loved his country and served proudly in the Army, receiving more military honors than he ever spoke about. He was a retired postal police officer and had a work ethic second to none. Paul loved gardening; not only did he enthusiastically tend his own vegetable and flower gardens, but he also tended the grounds of Ahavath Torah Congregation for many years. This past summer ATC named the garden for his years of devotion and dedication.  Later in life Paul discovered a love of cooking and earnestly began cooking chili and chowder for ATC bingo night.  For several years Paul volunteered as a coach for the Stoughton High School football team, which for many years he talked about “his guys” and thought of those years as some of his happiest and most fulfilling.  Paul loved to read, go to the movies and to fish. He was an animal lover and had many devoted dogs, a cat and even mongoose as pets over the years.  Paul had a love of ridiculous jokes which he enthusiastically and repeatedly told to anyone and everyone. Paul loved with his whole heart, which was never more apparent than the love he showed his friends and especially his family.

Paul’s funeral service will be held at 11AM, Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at Ahavath Torah Congregation, 1179 Central Street in Stoughton, with the interment to follow at Vilno Cemetery, 776 Baker Street, West Roxbury.

Memorial observance following the burial at his late residence and continuing Wednesday and Thursday, 2-6PM.

I am lucky to have known Paul in my younger years considering him, Dianne, Lisa and Adam as an extension of our family. He was a wonderful man and I know his passing leaves a big void. But may his love and memories forever be a blessing.
