Barbara “Bobbie” King of Sharon, MA, entered into rest on Thursday, December 1, 2022 at the age of 86. Dear daughter of the late David & Belle (Liebowitz) Reiss. Loving mother of Shelley King, Lisa Greenberg & her husband Ron, and Drew King. Devoted sister of the late Ronald Reiss. Cherished granny of Alison Metzler & her husband Ken , Lindsey Perrin & her husband Jeremy, and great-granny of Cameron Metzler, Cody Metzler, and Jacob Perrin.
Bobbie grew up in Yonkers, NY where she met and married her late husband Gil King. After years of raising the King family in Plainview, NY, Gil King accepted a new job which had the family relocate to Sharon, MA in 1975 where she worked as a medical technician at Boston University. Bobbie was a very artisic woman who expressed herself musically with her piano and organ. While in her 40’s, Bobbie learned the craft of wallpaper hanging and was soon a sought after “wallpaper artist” throughout the south shore of Boston until her retirement.
Bobbie’s life was filled with family and cherished friendships. Her interests included tennis, bridge, travel and time with her grandchildren baking Granny’s Cookies. In the winter months, Bobbie was an avid cross country skier in the family getaway near Waterville Valley, NH. Bobbie was an avid traveler with her dear friend, Jeannette Simon, and shared a home with her in both Delray, FL for winters and Falmouth during the summer months. In her later years, Alzheimer’s disease impacted her life. The past six years, Bobbie was cared for and supported by her daughter Shelley until she passed peacefully. Even with the impact of this dreaded disease Granny always recognized and expressed her love of her family, always cherished granny and loving mom.
