In Loving Memory
Our dear mother, Rose Goldberg, passed away on January 14, 2021, at the Hebrew Rehabilitation Center in Roslindale, MA. Rose was born and raised in Havana, Cuba, by her parents Aron and Nechamah (Stick) Friedman on September 22, 1932, their only child. The family immigrated to the United States in 1948 and they lived in Boston, MA.
Rose had a charmed childhood filled with the most wonderful and happy memories. Being an only child, she was showered with an abundance of attention and love by her parents, aunts, and uncles. She was adored by all of them.
In 1952 she was so fortunate to meet a handsome young US army private, Joe Goldberg, on a blind date. They soon fell in love and married in 1953 and started their family; sons, Paul and Fred. They all lived together along with her parents. Rose was a devoted daughter, wife, and mother. While nurturing and raising her family, she was also the caregiver and nurse to both her parents and, eventually, to her husband during their illnesses until death. She was blessed to have had the opportunity to visit Israel along with Joe. She also enjoyed her vacations in Florida and California.
Her last 20 years were spent in the Fireman House senior community in Randolph, MA. There she made many friends and loved to socialize. She enjoyed living there and participating in all the fun activities; card games, art classes, outings, and loved going to the movies and restaurants with friends.
Rose enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, she always wore a smile, and never complained. She liked to watch TV, especially the Boston Red Sox, the Patriots, the Spanish Novellas, and funny enough, golf! She was quite gifted, fluent in three languages; Spanish, English, and Yiddish. She was a very talented artist, particularly painting and drawing. She possessed a remarkable insight into human nature with an ability to see perhaps what was not evident to the average mind. A wonderful listener who was always more interested in what others had to say. Rose had the knack of making children feel special through her patient, kind, and loving nature.
Rose is preceded in death by her devoted husband, Joe, and cherished great-granddaughter, Bella.
Rose is survived by her loving sons, Paul (Alice) and Fred (Rita); beloved grandchildren, Joshua (Dara), Nadine (Zach), Jared, and step-granddaughter, Nicole (Stephen), precious step-great-grandchildren, Madeline and Grayson; and Joshua’s mother, Sandra.

God made a wonderful mother,
A mother who never grows old;
He made her smile of the sunshine.
And He molded her heart of pure gold;
In her eyes He placed bright shining stars,
In her cheeks fair roses you see;
God made a wonderful mother,
And He gave that dear mother to me.
Our family is incredibly grateful to the staff at the Hebrew Rehabilitation Center in Roslindale for their compassion, care, and respect they gave our mother.
Rose will be laid to rest next to her husband and parents at Sharon Memorial Park in Sharon, MA. The funeral service will take place on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at 11:00 am ET, and will be broadcast virtually via Zoom. Please contact the family for login information.
