LEVY, Malcolm D.

LEVY, Malcolm “Mal” of Waltham, MA passed away peacefully on Monday, May 11, 2020 at the age of 87.

Beloved husband of the late Carmela (Auditore) Levy, much loved father and father-in-law to his son David and his wife Kristen Levy of Sandwich, MA and cherished grandfather to Sean and Ryan Levy. He is survived by his three siblings, Jordan Levy of Naples, FL, Stephen Levy of Boston, MA and Linda Raphel of Naples, FL.

Mal was born on March 5, 1933 in Boston, MA to Robert and Lillian (Berfield) Levy. He graduated from Brookline High School in 1951 and joined the U. S. Army in March of 1953. He was stationed overseas in Germany, where he served his country during the Korean War. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Boston State College in 1981. He worked for his family hardware business and in his later years discovered great joy working with young people as a substitute teacher.

Mal had a natural curiosity for life and took a genuine interest in a variety of subjects including history, politics and world affairs. He was a sports fan who especially enjoyed rooting for his hometown Red Sox and Patriots. He was a deep thinker who enjoyed discussing ideas and sharing his own philosophies. Mal had a unique way of finding the humor in any situation; a mix of sarcasm and charm, he knew how to make people laugh. He adored his grandsons and they adored their silly grandfather right back. He enjoyed playing and beating them at Checkers and he never let his 80 plus years of age stop him from “taking it all the way” in backyard family football games.

Mal will be greatly missed, but his spirit will live on in those who loved him, heard in the sound of their laughter and felt deep within their hearts.

Services for Malcolm will be held at Bourne National Cemetery, at a future date and time to be determined.
