ZIMON, Dr. Richard P.

Boston, MA – Dr. Richard Phillip Zimon, 82 of West Roxbury, MA passed Saturday February 22, 2020, following a brief illness. 

Devoted husband to his wife of 60 years, Sandra (Kream) Zimon, and loving father to his three sons Jeffrey and his wife Jill Zimon, Douglas and his wife Deborah Zimon, and Joshua and his wife Marianne Zimon and cherished grandfather to Max, Raya, Matthew, Halle, Emma and Alana.

Dr. Zimon was a graduate of Harvard University (1958) and Harvard Medical School (1962).  He was affiliated with the Beth Israel Hospital where he established the Hospital’s Employee Health Services division, which he led as its Director for many years.  In addition to a substantial private practice, Dr. Zimon was on the Harvard Medical School Faculty and taught generations of medical students the analytics of diagnosis using what he described as the “Sherlock Holmes” method of analytic reasoning.  An expert on occupational medicine, he served on the Massachusetts Industrial Accidents Board and was active in this practice until his death.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at 10:00 am at Schlossberg & Solomon Memorial Chapel, 824 Washington Street, Canton, MA 02021.  Interment to follow at Sharon Memorial Park, 40 Dedham Street, Sharon, MA.

Shiva will be private and the family appreciates the understanding of all.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org.
