GLOTZER, Ruth Anne (Michelson)

longtime resident of Newton, MA and most recently of Orchard Cove in Canton, MA, died on November 25, 2018 at age 86, following several years of declining health and progressive memory loss. Ruth Anne was the loving spouse of Donald J. Glotzer, M.D. for 64 years. She was the devoted daughter of the late George & Bella (Slotnik) Michelson. She is survived by her children and their spouses, John Glotzer, M.D. and wife Beth Nauert, M.D. of Seattle WA, Deborah Glotzer, M.D. and husband David Waltz, M.D. of Waban, MA, Paul E. Glotzer, J.D. of NY, and Michael Glotzer, Ph.D. and wife Jola Glotzer, M.D. of Chicago, IL; her grandchildren, Alex and Gail Waltz, Leslie, Sandra, and Benjamin Glotzer, and Magdalena and Giacomo Glotzer; and her siblings Joseph Michelson and Nancy Yanofsky. Ruth Anne devoted herself to education, conveying this deep love of learning to her children. She was a volunteer reading teacher in the Newton public schools, and subsequently earned a M.Ed. degree while raising her children. She served as the Director for Continuing Medical Education at Tufts University School of Medicine for over 20 years, receiving a Distinguished Service Award. Ruth Anne delighted in making new friends, catching up with old ones, and spending time with her children and grandchildren, who thrived from her attention. While she loved nothing more than being with family and friends in the Boston area and at their house on Lake Winnipesaukee, Ruth Anne also greatly enjoyed business and pleasure travel, cooking, reading, crossword puzzles, and following current events. She will be deeply missed by all who experienced her personal warmth, engaging smile, and outgoing personality. A memorial service will be held in the future.
