of Canton, formerly of Randolph, passed peacefully on February 4, 2018, with his adoring wife of 70 years, Helen (Witt), at his side. Born in Chelsea, he volunteered and served in WWII as a Master Sargent, US Army Air Corp. In 1954, he and Helen established Alco Auto Parts in Jamaica Plain, now run by his sons, where he worked until he was 95. Al's trademark greeting, “L-O ALCO” echoes still. Well respected in his industry, he was the first President of AWANE (Automotive Wholesalers Association of New England). An avid golfer, Al's BAGS (Boston Amateur Golf Society) Senior Championship win was a pinnacle achievement. Nothing, however, was more important to Al than family. He is loving father of Carl Slotnick & Merilyn deVos; Barbara Slotnick Karp & Stan Karp; Charles Slotnick & Laura Woolpert; grandfather of Mimi, Caroline, Caleb, Josiah, Laura, Anne, Zachary, Sam, and Noah; great grandfather of 9; and dear brother of the late Sylvia Steinberg and Leo, Sam, and Lester Slotnick. In addition to his legacy and love, he will be remembered for his work ethic and winsome smile. Chapel Service at Schlossberg & Solomon Memorial Chapel, 824 Washington St., Canton, on Wednesday, February 7th at 10:00 AM. Interment to follow at Sharon Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Bridge Center, 470 Pine St., Bridgewater, MA 02324 or Good Shepherd Community Care, 90 Wells Ave., Newton, MA 02459.
