PORTMAN, Pearl (Hecht)


PORTMAN, Pearl (Hecht) formerly of Hull, beloved wife of the late Arthur L. Portman and devoted daughter of the late Samuel & Esther (Fishman) Hecht, died on September 7, 2017, surrounded by her family. Loving mother of Ava Grimason of Halifax, Jodie Gruen & her husband Ted of Needham and Cheryl Portman of Weymouth. Cherished grandmother of Lea Gruen, a shining light in her life! Dear sister to Marilyn Galer & her husband Larry of Milton and Barry Hecht of Brockton. She also leaves several nephews and nieces, and her dear best friend Loraine Gillis. Pearl lived in Hull for more than 50 years and served as a school bus driver and at the election polls. Pearl loved her family, the beach, bingo and sports, especially the Red Sox. She was a past officer of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary No. 1787 in Hull. Chapel Service at Schlossberg & Solomon Memorial Chapel, 824 Washington St., Canton, MA on Sunday, September 10th at 11:30 AM. Interment to follow at Agudath Israel Cemetery, 776 Baker St., W. Roxbury, MA. Memorial observance following the burial at Newbridge on the Charles, 5000 Great Meadow Rd., Dedham, MA from 2-6pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Massachusetts, 309 Waverley Oaks Rd., Waltham, MA 02452, www.Alz.org or a charity of your choice.
